SUMMARY: This position is responsible for implementing an environmental management system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at two or more locations. Duties include: supervising waste water operators, establishing and implementing environmental programs, writing and maintaining compliance plans, tracking key compliance and sustainability indicators, developing and submitting permit applications, implementing waste minimization and water use reduction programs, ensuring accurate, on-time submittal of all required compliance-based reports, and communicating issues affecting environmental compliance and sustainability with key Plant and Corporate personnel. The environmental programsinclude: Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act; Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, Oil Pollution Act; Safe Drinking Water Act, and other local, state, and federal environmental regulations applicable to the locations. Other duties include: leading location management to ensure compliance, identifying costsavings opportunities with complex management, maintaining relationships with local, state, and federal regulators, and responding to spills and releases. Under the direction of the Area Environmental Manager, serve as an organizer, facilitator, analyst and problem-solver on environmental compliance with the goal of zero environmental incidents.
REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's degree in natural science, environmental science or engineering required.
Experience: 6+ years experience in compliance and permitting; food production industry experience a plus.
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Power Point. Must be able to use and interface with basic compliance databases such as eCAT and Incident Tracker.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of Team Members and government officials; bilingual skills are a plus.
Special Skills: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to drive concurrent projects to completion; comfortable influencing all levels of the organization; strong team and collaboration skills; ability to think creatively and drive innovation; and Project Management concepts and techniques.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position supervises Waste Water Operators.
